Trees for Climate

Trees for Climate is a five year, multi-million pound woodland creation programme that offers packages of bespoke advice and financial support to landowners and community groups thinking about tree planting projects.

We've been creating woodland and growing the Forest of Marston Vale for nearly 30 years, and now - through Trees for Climate - we can offer our years of expertise and professional advice along with grants that can cover the costs of creating a new woodland.

The grant is highly flexible and is open to all landowners and land managers. Whether you are a parish council looking to add some shade to a green space or a farmer looking to diversify income streams, we can help.

Launched in November 2020, Trees for Climate is part of the national Government-led Nature for Climate fund and is being delivered by England's Community Forests.

What is Trees for Climate and what does it offer?

Launched in November 2020, Trees for Climate is a national £500m woodland creation programme aiming to at least treble planting rates in England, part of the Government-led Nature for Climate fund. Trees for Climate is being delivered by England’s Community Forests, 12 organisations like us across the country who have been transforming landscapes and communities through woodland creation for nearly thirty years.

Trees for Climate is helping the country to tackle climate change, storing hundreds of thousands of tonnes of carbon through the planting of trees. The wider range of benefits include reducing flood risk, delivering more home-grown timber and creating more places for nature to thrive.

A Trees for Climate grant is highly bespoke and open to most farmers, landowners and organisations within the Forest of Marston Vale area. If you’re looking to diversify income streams or secure funding to create green space within your community then we can help.

Our approach

We don’t offer a “one size fits all” approach to support or funding – our Forest Creation Team will work with you to assess potential planting ideas, and help to develop schemes that fit your objectives. We’ll also be on-hand to offer advice and address any questions or concerns along the way.

We’ve been creating new woodland for almost 30 years, and the success we’ve had in growing the Forest of Marston Vale is because of the relationships and reputation that we’ve built as a trusted delivery partner.
