Senior Ranger

Starting salary £23,000;

Permanent, Full-time position (37.5 hrs/wk)

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, driven and experienced individual who’s passionate about improving our environment for people and wildlife. They’ll need to ensure the effective management and enhancement of the Trust’s estate of woodlands, wetlands and grasslands, actively engaging and enthusing visitors, and improving the quality of these sites for both people and wildlife. They’ll have day-to-day operational responsibility for the award-winning Millennium Country Park (225ha), our flagship site which receives around 450,000 visits per annum, and the Trust’s wider estate of community woodlands (230ha) within the Forest of Marston Vale area.

The successful candidate will be highly experienced in countryside/conservation management, leading other staff and volunteers, and organising operational work programmes. They’ll be a resourceful self-starter with drive, determination and initiative; a natural leader and team player, with excellent communication and organisational skills. Microsoft Office skills are essential, as is a valid driving licence, plus excellent practical countryside/conservation management skills.

We offer a starting salary of £23,000 and 33 days holiday (incl. Bank/Public Holidays) plus pension. Post is based at the Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park, Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire. This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hrs/wk) including regular weekend and Bank/Public Holiday working, on a rota basis, as part of the Ranger Team.
