This month, we are celebrating The Great Big Green Week, a week-long annual celebration to inspire action to tackle climate change and protect nature. In addition to getting involved in activities in the local community, there are plenty of things you can do at home in your own garden to help wildlife and tackle climate change.

Plant a wood, leave your mark, Grow your Roots

Trees for Climate is a five year, multi-million-pound woodland creation programme that offers landowners and community groups the opportunity to transform their land through tree planting. Creating a wooded area is more than just planting trees, it’s about the benefits they bring for wildlife and future generations.

Route 51

A long distance cycle route that connects major cities in the south of England – the stretch that passes through the Forest connects Oxford to Cambridge, via Bedford and Milton Keynes. It’s mainly off road and you can pick it up at the Forest Centre or the Grange Estate.
Forest Centre to Cranfield

A 10 mile, walk, cycle or horse ride from the Forest Centre, through the ancient woodlands at Marston Thrift and on to Cranfield.
Forest Centre to Center Parcs

An 8 - 14 mile walk, cycle or horse ride from the Forest Centre, through the countryside past Lidlington and onto the woodlands around Center Parcs.
Bedford St Johns to the Grange Estate

A 6.5 mile walk from the train station at Bedford St Johns, out to the Grange Estate in the Bedford River Valley Park.
The Clay Way

A 9.5 mile walk, or cycle, from the Forest Centre, along the clay ridge to Bromham Mill.
Forest Centre to Bedford via Shocott Spring

A 13.5 mile walk from the Forest Centre to Bedford via our woodland, Shocott Spring, which sits between Shortstown and Cotton End.
Forest Centre to Lidlington and Folly Wood

A circular, 6.5 mile walk from the Forest Centre up to Folly Wood and into Lidlington.
Forest Centre to Gateway Woods

A circular, 10 mile walk from the Forest Centre through the small villages and hamlets of the Forest to Gateway Woods and back.
Forest Centre to Milbrook and Ampthill

A circular, 7 mile walk through the Millennium Country Park and out through the countryside of Millbrook to Ampthill.
Wootton Gateway Woods Walk

A circular, 4-mile walk around our very own Gateway Woods, near Wootton.
