The natural place to explore, unwind, and connect with nature

The Millennium Country Park spans 225 hectares of stunning wetland, woodland and meadows – perfect for walking, cycling, wildlife watching or simply soaking up the peace and quiet. With miles of surfaced paths, scenic walking routes, plenty of benches and picnic spots, it’s an ideal place to explore at your own pace.

Wetlands Nature Reserve

Whether you’re a keen wildlife spotter or just looking for some peace and quiet, the Wetlands Nature Reserve is the perfect place to explore. The surfaced Wetlands Trail forms a 1.2-mile circular route around the Pillinge lake, starting from the Forest Centre meadow.

Along the way, you can spot everything from bitterns and kingfishers to dragonflies and butterflies. Enjoy views from three hides overlooking the reedbeds and sand martin wall, or head to the Tower Hide and Woodland Walkway for stunning panoramic views across the Vale. All hides are wheelchair accessible.

Access to the Wetlands is ticketed to help protect these special habitats.

Sensory Wildlife Garden

For some visitors, exploring the whole Millennium Country Park can feel overwhelming - whether due to reduced mobility, sensory sensitivities, or other challenges. That’s why we’ve created the Sensory Wildlife Garden: a ‘pocket-sized’ version of the Park, designed to be welcoming and accessible.

With gentle pathways, raised beds, and carefully chosen plants and features that stimulate the senses in calming and enjoyable ways, it’s a peaceful place to pause, reflect, and connect with nature.

We’re still raising funds to complete the final phases of this special project - find out more or support the Sensory Wildlife Garden project.

Visit the Forest Centre

The Forest Centre lies in the heart of the Millennium Country Park and is the hub of the Forest of Marston Vale Trust.

Here, you’ll find a welcoming reception team ready to help with information about the park and the wider Forest. Take a break in our café, which offers a range of food and drinks and welcomes well-behaved dogs. For a quieter experience, head upstairs to the Balcony and Terrace, which are both dog and child free.

There’s also a gift shop full of nature-inspired gifts and local products, a large outdoor playground for children, and excellent facilities including accessible toilets and a Changing Places toilet. With a large on-site car park, it’s the perfect base for your day out in the Park.

The wind turbine at Millennium Country Park

We love our wind turbine at the Millennium Country Park! Over 120 metres tall, it’s been a Forest landmark since 2014 and generates around 3.7 million kWh of electricity each year, helping power the Forest Centre alongside our 400m² of solar panels, and supplying energy to the National Grid. The turbine works in winds from 5mph to 80mph, turning to face the breeze and pitching its blades out of strong winds for safety. We’re proud the Forest Centre runs entirely on renewable electricity, and it’s one of the few places in the UK where you can walk right up to a turbine’s base - worth a look next time you’re in the Millennium Country Park!

About the Trust

We’re the Forest of Marston Vale Trust, a charity leading the environmental, social and economic regeneration of 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes through the creation of the Forest of Marston Vale.

By planting trees, creating and managing diverse habitats, we’re transforming this area from a landscape scarred by industry to one where people want to live, work, and spend time. Because when nature thrives, we all do.

We believe that trees make life better, for people, for nature, and for the planet.
