Managing our sites We’ve planted over 1.5 million trees But there is so much more to managing woodlands than just planting trees. We have a very small team, so combined with our volunteers we have to cover a lot of ground. Here is a list of many of the things we do at our various sites across the Forest: Pond clearance Scrub management Path clearance Litter picking Bench maintenance Grass mowing Hedge cutting Fencing Emptying bins Fixing/clearing up after antisocial behaviour Reed cutting Gardening Wildflower meadow management Gate installation Coppicing Removal of old tree guards Ragwort pulling Woodland management Tree safety surveys Safety checks on all site infrastructure Footpath surfacing repairs Clearing up dog mess Signage repairs and maintenance General patrolling/trouble shooting/helping members of the public For more information about our woodland management: At the Millennium Country Park - call 01234 762614 or email our Head RangerAt our other sites - call 01234 762608 or email our Community Engagement Officer GET INVOLVED Interested in getting involved in woodland management? Why not join our team of volunteers and get stuck in – whether you can spare a few hours for our public tree planting event, or regular time to be a Wood Warden at one of our sites, we’d love to have you on board. Although our sites are all free for the public to use, it is obviously expensive to maintain them all. As a charity, we rely on donations to helping us to keep the Forest growing and thriving - just a small donation can make all the difference!
