The climate crisis is happening right now – we just had the warmest January on record. The planet’s surface temperature has risen by nearly 1 degree in the last century; glaciers are melting; sea levels are rising and extreme weather events are now so commonplace that we don’t even seem to bat an eyelid for longer than a few days when 11 million hectares of Australia is on fire(!)

It’s a sad state of affairs for the planet and the future generations who need to live on it. As much as we can hope that Elon Musk will imminently sort out living on Mars - as so many activist’s banners say – there is no planet B.

But all hope is not lost – if everyone makes a conscious effort to live as sustainably as they can, then it can and will make a difference. Climate anxiety is real and while we can’t control what multi-national corporations are doing we can definitely make changes in our own lives to help the cause.

We want to know what you do to live sustainably – we’ve discussed it in the office and here are some of the things the team do at home. Tell us below what you do – whether it’s something mega and life changing or something small, everyday. We want to start sharing people’s ideas to inspire others (and hopefully us as well).

What members of the team do

  • Use beeswax wraps for sandwiches
  • Turn lights off at home when family members turn them all on
  • Buy local produce – meat, fruit and veg
  • Leave bits of the garden wild – less work to manage and way better for wildlife
  • Compost food waste
  • Have water butts in the garden to collect rainwater
  • Buy loose fruit and veg and NEVER put it in plastic bags (you don’t need bags for bananas)
  • Take their own Tupperware to the butchers/the cheese counter/deli (see if you can use a butcher that uses corn starch bags)
  • Don’t leave the heating on full
  • Cut down on meat

Let us know what you're doing in the comments below - however big or small! Alternatively, send us an email or let us know on our Facebook page!
