The Queen's Green CanopyThe Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which invites people from across the United Kingdom to plant trees in Celebration of The Queen’s 70 years of service. In the Forest of Marston Vale we're working with the Lord-Lieutenant Helen Nellis to encourage individuals, community groups, organisations and businesses to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” through one of our tree planting initiatives, and asking them to add their Jubilee tree to The Queen's Green Canopy map to celebrate this very special occasion and highlight the fantastic tree planting efforts in Bedfordshire this year. Planting QGC trees in the Forest of Marston Vale We've already planted over 2 million trees in the Forest of Marston Vale - making life better for people and wildlife in the Marston Vale, and helping the planet. This year we're planting thousands more trees, and you can get involved through one of our tree planting and woodland creation initiatives: Plant One On Us Our 'Plant One On Us' tree giveaway with Service Express has now closed for 2022. Stay up-to-date with release dates for next year by signing up to our newsletter. All applicants for trees in 2022 will be given instructions on how to register their tree on The Queen's Green Canopy interactive map. Trees for Climate Trees for Climate is a multi-million pound woodland creation programme available to landowners and community groups, part of the Government-led Nature for Climate fund. If you're a school, community group or Parish Council in the Marston Vale or Bedford area, we can work with you to fund and plant trees that will enhance your community area and make it a better place for people and nature, as well as helping the planet. Package of funding, ongoing maintenance payments and expert advise are also available for private Landowners, Land Managers and Farmers in the Forest wanting to develop woodland creation schemes as part of their estate or farm business. All trees planted through Trees for Climate in 2022 can also be registered at part of The Queen's Green Canopy, and we'll offer advise to our planting partners on how to document these projects on the QGC interactive map.
