What's going on News Give back to trees this Christmas We all know Christmas is a time of excess – there’s unavoidable food waste; unavoidable, shiny wrapping paper everywhere that can’t be recycled; unavoidable hangovers from spending too much time with relatives… There’s a lot of ways to lessen your impact on the environment at this time of year but ultimately the planet needs more trees so this Giving Tuesday (3rd Dec) we’re launching our appeal for people to donate £3 so that we can keep creating woodlands and reach our goal of another 5 million trees. It’s that simple. Trees make life better Every tree we plant makes life better for people, for wildlife and for the planet. They help to cool and clean our air, lock up carbon, reduce flooding, provide sustainable raw materials, and are our best hope in combatting the climate crisis. You literally can’t get a better use of land than trees but they’re definitely not on most people’s Christmas card lists. They’re the sort of thing that a lot of people take for granted, but without them, we’d be totally lost. We’re not going to guilt trip you about buying too much or using a plastic Christmas tree – we’re just going to say – think about your impact this Christmas and donate £3 towards trees (or more if you’re feeling generous!)
