What is the Community Fund?

The company that built the wind turbine at Millennium Country Park have committed to contributing £10,000 a year into a Community Fund to which local groups can apply for up to £2,000 towards any educational, environmental or community projects.

We are celebrating the 2023 recipients of the Community Fund and showcasing the projects they will use the fund for. Carry on reading to find out how your charity can apply for the 2024 pot.

Who was awarded funding for 2023?

Families United Network - They received funds to run specialist swimming sessions from the hydrotherapy pool at Keech Hospice, for children and young adults with disabilities.

Houghton Conquest Village Hall - They received funds to install a new audio visual system at the hall – which will be used by local groups - who access it.

Wootton Village Hall - They received funds towards the cost of insulating their loft, helping them become more energy efficient and combatting the rising cost of heating.

Bedford Disabled Horse Riding Association - They received funds to help them upgrade the fencing in their paddocks, where they keep the horses that provide therapy to people with disabilities.

Bedfordshire Opportunities for Learning Disabilities - They wanted to extend the horticultural training they offer, into growing soft fruit. They received funds for a fruit cage to help them do this, meaning that in future they can produce jams and chutneys.

Fun 4 Young People Ltd - Their successful bid was for funds to help them run a three day holiday programme at Wootton School – which will include dance, gymnastics, music and singing.

Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership - They received funds to help them develop the Ridgmont Heritage Centre, so that local people can grow their own produce – for themselves and for sale.
