Why we chose to support the Forest of Marston Vale

As we entered into 2021 we wanted to support a cause that we all felt passionate about and that we could all get behind. We came up with the idea of planting 1000 trees in 2021 to help mitigate our carbon footprint. We committed to donate the money for a tree for every bid or compliance project completed. In addition to this, we would also contact clients and ask them to support our initiative and donate towards the total to help us achieve 1000.

To achieve planting this many trees, we will be working with the Forest of Marston Vale and at the end of 2021 we will confirm the number of trees we have managed to raise funds for and will therefore be able to plant in early 2022 at one of their planting days.

The Forest of Marston Vale is a Community Forest and a Charity, planting trees and using woodlands to make life better for the people and wildlife in the 61 square mile area of the Marston Vale, between Bedford and Milton Keynes where we are based. With a number of us in the business having children and grandchildren it is important to us that we do our bit to protect the environment for their generations and the generations to come.

How our tree planting scheme will work

For every project we complete, we donate funds to plant a tree.

In order to support us in reaching our target of 1000 trees in 2021 we are asking our clients if they would like to join us, through either matching our donation of £10 per project completed or donating directly to the Forest.  We will be offering certificates to clients for each tree we plant relating to work we have completed for them.  This is a great piece of work that can be included as a Corporate Social Responsibility/Social Value project in your tender submissions going forwards.

We have a duty and responsibility to protect and enhance the environment around us. I believe that we should try and leave this planet in a better state than when we joined it. As an organisation we have always placed a high importance on being green by employing local people, reducing printing and recycling in our office. This year we wanted to take that a step further and have invested in the tree planting scheme and our company car is now a hybrid. We won’t stop here – and will continue to seek out new ways to reduce our carbon footprint whilst supporting our clients to reduce theirs.
