In Margaret's words:

Having enjoyed widespread popularity until the late 17th century, the warden pear gradually faded into obscurity. The Original Warden Pear uncovers its story, bringing together evidence from monks, horticulturalists, physicians and bookkeepers. Poets, songwriters and playwrights captured the spirit of the pear from the late 14th century onwards, while 21st century DNA testing has sought to discover whether anything of the old warden pears has survived.

Margaret will be selling copies of her book 'The Original Warden Pear' for Warden Abbey Vineyardwhich even includes recipes, so you can enjoy pears the 15th century way!

Talks are approx. 1 hour long, with time for questions. Feel free to grab a tea or coffee from the Lakeside Cafe beforehand and take it in with you!
