How Ampthill fared in the Great War

For its size, Ampthill's involvement during WW1 was enormous. With the Bedfordshire Training Depot and latterly Rehabilitation Depot; the arrival of the Canadians to fell Coopers Hill in 1917 plus the loss of at least 67 of their own men, the town certainly played it's part in the war effort. The war also had a profound impact on other areas of the town that last to this day. John Hele talks about the amazing history of Ampthill.
