I've watched this woodland slowly grow from saplings to young trees

By Rolf Taggart ǀ Volunteer, Forest of Marston Vale

My favourite wood is Folly Wood as it is right on my doorstep!

Having helped plant it along with many of the village residents at the time, I have watched it slowly grow into a nice young woodland. The bird life has increased dramatically as these trees have grown, and in the spring months the early morning birdsong is a joy to hear. There are warblers aplenty, and song thrushes and robins start singing even in the cold winter mornings.

I love sitting on the benches to take in the glorious views from the hills above Lidlington and spend quiet time here whatever the weather.

I have enjoyed helping out volunteering with tree planting as I am helping create a new woodland to provide a new habitat for wildlife. I also enjoy showing children and families how to plant and see their faces when they do so.
