A local business that's making a difference

We love working with local businesses to make the Forest a better place and this week we were very chuffed to receive a donation for £1485 from our partners over at Canoe Trail! Based in Matchstick Wood over at the Grange Estate, they offer all sorts of award-winning river based activities – from paddle boarding, to wild camping and bushcraft. Many people probably don’t realise that you can go kayaking or wild camping in Bedfordshire, but we highly recommend it!

You don’t have to be part of a corporate team building group to take part – they take group and family bookings and do both taster sessions (like this 90 min paddle boarding taster for only £18) or 4 week courses (4 week paddle board courses are £55). If you’ve never tried it and want to give it a go without travelling too far from home, we literally cannot recommend these guys enough – they’re family run, local and they support the planting of more trees in the Forest. What more could you want!

You can catch them at Bedford River Festival, doing lots of activities and hosting the Invitational River Swim and the Stand Up Paddle Board Race which are still open for entries (until early July). You’ll also see us there in their Adventure Village, next to St Mary’s Gardens – make sure you come and say hi!
