Train on the Marston Vale Line

By train

Catch a train on the Bedford to Bletchley line and enjoy a short, scenic trip to Millbrook Station. The Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership has arranged a free bus shuttle from the station to the Forest Centre throughout the weekend. Alternatively, it's a very pleasant 20 minute stroll through the Country Park - simply turn right on leaving the station and enter the Park through a kissing gate on your right. There are signs from the station, so you shouldn't get lost.

Althought the line is usually closed on Sundays, a special train ran on Sunday 4th September 2011 for the festival. Click here for the special Sunday timetable (800kb pdf).

By cycle

The Forest Centre lies on the National Cycle Network's Route 51 which connects Oxford to Cambridge via Bedford and Milton Keynes. Much of the route follows traffic-free cycle trails although there are some sections on quieter roads. The route can be downloaded from www.letsgo.org.uk

Follow the brown tourist signs from the A421 at Marston Moretaine. The Country Park entrance is off Station Road in Marston on the way to Lidlington.

If you haven't visited since last year, don't be put off by the changes to the A421 from Bedford to junction 13 of the M1 - it makes getting here easier and quicker - honest

On foot

If you live in Marston Moretaine or Stewartby, the Centre is only a few minutes walk away. From further afield, you could make Woodworks a stop on a longer walk. There are several promoted routes to choose from. Here are some suggestions with links to the Let's Go web site (www.letsgo.org.uk)...

The Jubilee Walk - A 6 mile circular walk that starts at the Forest Centre and runs west towards Lower Shelton and Cranfield (the Lower Shelton part may be difficult due to the works on the A421)

The Marston Vale Timberland Trail - A longer (13 mile) route that starts at the Forest Centre and goes through Stewartby, Houghton Conquest, Ampthill and Lidlington

Route 51 - ok so it's a cycle trail, but it's also a lovely walk from Cranfield.

Next years dates Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd September 2012
