Woodfuel East & Jeff Coleman
Burning wood for heat is a truly sustainable source of renewable energy. This is an exciting time for woodfuel in the East of England with a new regional initiative – Woodfuel East.
The aim of Woodfuel East is to encourage the management of 15,000 hectares of existing woodland in the region to produce 110,000 tonnes of green wood for woodfuel.
There is around 140,000 hectares (343,000 acres) of woodland in the East of England, covering just over 7% of the land area. It is estimated that 50-70,000 hectares are unmanaged or under managed, with at least 200,000 tonnes of timber unutilised every year!

We hope Clophill-based firewood merchant Jeff Coleman will bring his tree harvester or other processing gear to the show. Jeff is one of the biggest merchants in the area and delivers firewood throughout Bedfordshire and beyond.

Well-being Festival
The Bedfordshire and Luton Well-being Festival aims to promote mental well-being across the community and challenge the stigma and discrimination that exists towards mental illness. We have been in existence for three years and link ourselves to the national Time to Change campaign.
We offer the opportunity for individuals and families to make a Mental Well Being pledge on a piece of card which we then peg to a washing line. It has been so popular and the plan is to collate all the pledges into a huge collage to display at our arts night at the Hat Factory in Luton in November.
The Well Being festival flagship event will be a ‘Time to get moving’ event at Marston Vale Forest Centre on World Mental Health day, the 10th October 2010. We will take over the whole of the centre offering something for everyone relating to physical activity and well being. The event will be FREE!
Physical exercise to join in with will include healthy walks; running; cycling; skipping; conservation tasks and different types of dance- salsa; belly dancing; street dancing. There will be a 5 a side football tournament which brings together local teams, some of which are service user led.
There will be a host of demonstrations of different forms of exercise including Tai Chi; gymnastics; Martial arts; Boxercise; Laughter Yoga. Alternative therapies will be available including body mechanics; hand massage; Indian head massage; Reflexology.
A Well Being room will offer health checks; how to look after yourself as a carer; information on all aspects of healthy living.
Back by popular demand, we will have a smoothie bike where you cycle to make yourself a delicious fruit smoothie.
To accompany all this activity will be a range of entertainers:- Challney brass band; Nyabingi drummers.
