Plant a Tree |
Plant a TreeClick on a month to the left to see your tree. Your tree will be planted in the Forest of Marston Vale and will be one of many millions of trees that we hope to plant over the coming years within this area.
Your tree will be planted in mixed woodland at a site within the Marston Vale during the next stage of planting. Trees are planted between November and March to see which site will be planted next, please look at the map in the Forest Centre reception. Your tree will not have an individual plot number or a plaque, as we are trying to create a natural landscape and many people can find these signs intrusive. But we hope that your tree will be as special to you as it is to us and so we would like you to give it a name. On our web site you can have registered* the name of your tree and given it a special day, maybe to share a special day in your life or the life of someone you care about. * Sorry, registration scheme no longer available. |

Your
tree will be a tree native to Britain, probably an oak, ash, birch,
field maple or a willow. And although your tree may take
a long time to grow, for an oak tree up to 100 years to mature, it is
important that we plant these types of trees as they are the most valuable
to the environment. These types of trees are called broad-leaved trees
and provide homes for many thousands of different species of animals,
birds and insects. They also help clean the air and absorb greenhouse
gases from the atmosphere and so help reduce global warming.
