Trees at the top – a public planting day
You are very welcome to join us for our first public tree planting of the winter, on Sunday 4 December, 11am-3pm, during National Tree Week. The site this winter is a new one for the Forest and only a short distance from the Forest Centre.
Feel part of the Forest
Everyone should plant a tree sometime and if you’ve not tried it yet, now’s your chance (if you’re an old hand you probably won’t need much encouragement). It’s a fantastic way to feel a part of a place in the future – just imagine taking your children (or grandchildren) to see a wood in twenty years time and telling them “I planted some of these!” I’ve done it myself and it is a good feeling, but can lead to your children thinking that you are even older than they did before!
Everyone is welcome to join us. We will provide trees, tools and a toilet. There will also be free refreshments and plenty of places to sit, out of the wind and rain (it won’t of course rain). We also plan to have some music and information about the new woodland and the Forest on hand.
Wrap up warm
Make sure you wrap up warm and wear something strong and waterproof on your feet; even though it will hopefully be warm in our tent, the planting site is pretty exposed so it will almost certainly be perishing outside.
Take the bus
Like most of our woodland sites, there are very few parking spaces, so to avoid local congestion, we are running free buses throughout the day. Please park at the Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine and take a free bus to the planting site.
Buses will leave the Forest Centre every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour, starting at 10.40. Last bus leaves the Centre at 14.20. Buses will return to the Forest Centre regulalry until 15.20.
If you have trouble stepping onto a bus, a vehicle with a tail lift is available. Please call 07794 013876 to request collection on Sunday 4 December only.
