The project CATCHING LIGHT has grown from the seed of a simple idea into something that will continue to evolve as the Community Forest itself grows. It has enabled us to capture a whole new dimension of the Community Forest and involve a new group of enthusiastic and talented individuals.

The project presents a fascinating interpretation of the area of the Marston Vale: its legacy of brick making and its burgeoning regeneration. Running through this book and associated exhibition will be an image that will I hope, attract and inspire others to visit the area and perhaps to make their own contribution to the Community Forest.

The project has also enabled the participants, learning from the mentors and from each other, to develop their own interests and skills.

CATCHING LIGHT has undoubtedly been a success - for the Community Forest Team and for the participants. Credit and thanks for making it such an enjoyable and successful project must be extended to Liz Lush and Peter Salt who have jointly taken responsibility for the organisation; to the mentors, Andy Croft and Roy Mehta for the artistic input in poetry and photography respectively; Derek Moore for providing a web site; and of course to all the participants for their time, energy and the creation of such inspiring work.
