to Countryside Commission Forest of Marston Vale is one of twelve Community Forests in England.

Supported by the Forestry Commission and the Countryside Commission , each forest aims to create a rich mosaic of landscapes, incorporating woodlands, heaths, wetlands and farmland. Tree planting and the establishment of multi-purpose forest will revive large areas of damaged and derelict land, and will also:
  • contribute towards the national timber supply
  • offer an alternative to agricultural land use
  • contribute to rural employment
  • create attractive sites for public enjoyment
  • enhance the natural beauty of the countryside
  • create wildlife habitats
More than anything, community forests are about local people rediscovering and enjoying the great outdoors. Community forests will increase opportunities for access, sport and recreation, and for artistic and cultural events.
