Tree planting Every winter we plant thousands of trees in the Forest and Volunteers are crucial in making this possible. These days planting events are big; over 350 people came to the one in December 2007 at Rectory Wood. Volunteers help by moving gear, putting up tents, welcoming tree planters and showing everyone how it's done. As ever, they are the friendly face of the Forest. It's usually wet and cold but so worthwhile. |

Office work Joan, Andy, Maggie, Susie, Ruth and Andrew spend Tuesdays dealing with the usual office tasks, sorting out all the emails, printing off labels, keeping the database up to date (quite a job sometimes). Katherine usually comes in on Thursdays to work on Let's Go. Every time it's Commentree week we set up in a larger room to sort out the numbers of Commentrees needed, putting them in small, medium or large envelopes which we have already put the labels on. The last job is sticking on the stamps. Its all good fun! |

Guided walks Health Walks have being going on at the Forest Centre since October 2003. The numbers fluctuate from 6 to 26, it all depends on the weather. These walks are a starting point for most people. Some have graduated from the hour long forest trail and head for longer and harder walks elsewhere. We cater for slow walkers and faster walkers, who are accompanied by two trained volunteers. Without the volunteers the walks would stop, and without the people the volunteers would stop being committed to their Wednesday exercise. We need you and you need us. Forest Centre 10.30 am to approximately 11.30am Wednesdays Additional Summertime walks go from the Forest Centre on Tuesdays starting on May 5th. 6.00pm until 7.00pm. The carpark will be open on these evenings.
