VacanciesVolunteer Seasonal Ranger(s), Millennium Country Park 6 month volunteer opportunity (Apr-Sep 2012; 2+ days per week) working as part of a small Ranger Team to help manage, maintain and enhance the Millennium Country Park, including its Wetlands Nature Reserve, and actively engage and enthuse visitors, improving the quality of the site for both people and wildlife. Duties would include a range of practical landscape/habitat management tasks, site monitoring, patrolling, working with volunteers and could include running guided walks, working with school groups and assisting with events (including our 2-day Woodworks festival). All essential training, tools and equipment provided, with up to two relevant training courses provided. This part-time seasonal voluntary post is an ideal opportunity to gain first-hand practical and professional experience in conservation and countryside management. The ideal candidate should have a broad knowledge of conservation and countryside management, and must also be able to demonstrate a clear passion for the environment and an understanding of balancing the needs of both people and wildlife. Practical conservation experience would be an advantage, and enthusiasm for outdoor working is key, as are flexibility, reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
